Trying desperately to forget his roots, Henry is drawn back into the fray with his father when finances get the better of him. Returning with him to sell the family farm, his fiance soon discovers disturbing secrets about his past. A childhood sweetheart, a stubborn father thick with Swiss traditions, and a desperate lawyer who’ll do anything for money force Henry to decide between protecting his father or turning his back on him.

Nik Zeindler, 51, father of a family and vocational school teacher from Münsingen (BE) starts at the Race Across America, the toughest cycle race in the world. With around 5,000 km and 50,000 metres of altitude difference, which have to be traversed on a given route within 12 days, this race demands everything from the driver. Everyone divides breaks into individual breaks. In the race against time, most – if at all – sleep only a few hours per night.
“Ronald is making a film about himself. And I’m making a movie about him. Or about us? A film about a not so easy relationship. Ronald is an 83-year-old artist and graphic artist – I’m a 25-year-old film student who’s realizing his graduate film.”
16-year-old Taylor has a big passion: Rodeo. With her brother Logan, she regularly takes part in rodeo competitions throughout British Columbia. Now the BC High School Rodeo Finals are approaching, an important competition for the siblings. The whole family’s going to Williams Lake to support them. But will they be good enough to win the grand prize in the end?
More than 200,000 Sikhs live in British Columbia. Naina and her family, who immigrated from India to Canada, are among them. Naina’s goal is to unite Indian and Canadian values and to inspire other young people for a multicultural life. She does a lot for this: at the local radio station she presents a show in her mother tongue Punjabi and together with her girlfriend she shoots a music video for a self-written song.
Around 1900, the Canadian Rocky Mountains were only seen as an obstacle. Thanks to the ingenuity and passion of generations of Swiss mountain guides, this is no longer the case. The legendary Swiss mountain guides have conquered the highest peaks on daring first ascents, bringing their alpine skills and expertise in mountain rescue and avalanche safety to Canada.
