Since time immemorial, important goods have been transported on steep trails from Italy to the north over the Alps, and the route via the St. Gotthard through the dangerous canyon of the Schöllenen. To build a bridge, the residents make a dangerous pact with the devil. The film is based on an old legend from the canton of Uri.
