Isolated, Peter K. lives on the edge of society. The pensioner feels supervised by the state. His sister has betrayed him and he is in danger of losing his house. An armed task force finally surrounds his house. He injures a policeman, escapes and flees to the nearby woods. Later in the courtroom, parts of the audience see him as a hero. The judge and the psychiatrist see it differently. Peter is sentenced to prison for life.
